Thousands of Swedes demonstrated their love for soca over the weekend when they took to the streets of Stockholm for a street party
Soca artist Bunji Garlin shared the video on Instagram in which 7000 people, he said, can be seen jumping behind a truck blasting soca.
The event was managed by Thomas Gylling, a DJ and television presenter, who has been pushing soca in Sweden.
Gylling hosts a television show called Mosquito.
He said on Instagram that the overall event drew about 450,000 people, all exposed to soca and Caribbean vibes.
Bunji Garlin said: “When you grew in Trinidad as an artiste over years and kept hearing ‘Soca eh going nowhere’ and then see this highlighted statement about a Soca session going down in Sweden right now and it’s not even carnival per say. The one @thomasmosquito there and his team has been working Soca in Sweden since 1978. Watch now.”
