The Chrending platform went live from Wednesday with a series of events designed to keep those in the entertainment sector busy.

The website, founded by Fay Ann Lyons-Alvarez and her husband Ian “Bunji Garlin” Alvarez, aims to provide a platform for the region’s artistes to showcase their talents while the entertainment remains shuttered due to the COVID-19 restrictions.

Lyons-Alvarez told Loop News there will be weekly events until the end of the Carnival season. All events will be streamed live from Chrending.com.

The calendar of events kicked off with a weekly Wednesday event called Midweek Mayhem, a DJ showcase. This week featured DJs Elon, Adam, TYE and Major Penny.

Thursdays will see comedians taking over the platform for Make Me Laugh. This week will feature comedians Simmy the Trini, Louris and Kevin Soyer.

Limited seating is available for this event and interested persons are asked to WhatsApp 1-868-325-7177 to book a seat.

Sundays will see a cast of calypsonians perform for Kailypso Nites.

Lyons-Alvarez said other concerts are currently being arranged with some soca artistes.

“We are trying to get as many people back to work as much as we could, getting enough sponsors on board,” she said of the events.

“The idea is to do our little part to get the industry back productive and viable and keep the doors open for the industry.”
