The 2020 International Soca Monarch and Road March winner, Iwer George, will stage a series of concerts four days a week to keep the culture alive in people’s minds.

The shows, which will begin on May 28, will run from Thursday to Sunday weekly from 7 pm to 8 pm.

George told Loop his mission is two-fold: to keep the culture alive especially for fans overseas and to educate.

“This project is to service different parts of this world that can’t go back to large gatherings soon. So we can keep servicing them so that soca, calypso, our culture, in general, is not going to lose our space in the world. Most of these places, there are a lot of foreigners that we got to love and adopt our culture and in this time if we don’t try to create an alternative they might probably leave us and go back to what was there before,” he explained.

George said his main agenda also is to educate young fans of soca.

“This is an opportunity for me to educate. A lot of people in soca have no knowledge This is like a MIDEM, a convention, everything in one.”

The series will feature performances from dancehall, soca, calypso, chutney, pan, comedy and Tassa artistes.

The concert will stream free on George’s Instagram, YouTube and Facebook pages and on the Street 91.9’s Facebook page and radio station.

Donations will be accepted.
